Piotr kneels at her throne, and his eyes are filled with nothing but adoration. Illyana feels herself, all at once, unravel.
“Snowflake,” he says. “Let me take you home.”
It’s all she’s ever wanted.
Like she’s still delicate, Piotr picks her up carefully, carries her like a princess. When her face drops against his iron neck, she presses her mouth into his pulse.
In the end, it’s always been this she was fighting for; not the Republic, not Limbo, not power. Just this; Piotr’s embrace. The tilt of his head, the brush of his lips against her brow. Just this.
